Emily Was Here

I’m Emily, but you can call me by one of my many nicknames (Mim, Lily, Mel, Millie, or Emmy) and I live in the greatest place on earth, Ontario, Canada. I’m an atheist vegetarian by my own choice who loves writing, history, film, cats, documentaries, and a good debate. I’m a total nerd and I like stupid things, but I’m not afraid to be. I take a lot of crap for going my own way, but I refuse to hide what I like, no matter how ridiculous it is.

I want to be a writer someday or a historian. History is so interesting, especially ancient Greek mythology and culture. History is intriguing. I dont see how it can be boring. I study mostly Canadian and Greek history in my spare time. I’m a history geek!

Despite loving to argue,  I am a true goodie-goodie at heart. My two amusing babies are Chip and Luna, my cats. They are my precious. I also have a Lab X Border Collie dog named Brigid, fondly nicknamed Not-A-Cat. (I’m a cat person, if you haven’t noticed).

My favourite colour is turquoise, my favourite scent is vanilla, my favourite flower are hyacinths, my favourite food is broccoli casserole, and my favourite animals are cats. I’m really good at CSS and I can make pretty decent webpage designs.

The very best things in the world are Writing, Cats, Cycling, Swimming, Blogging, Roleplaying, Drama class, Fencing, Archery, and watching Crime Documentaries.

My ideal meal would be a creamy, thick cream of broccoli soup as an appitizer. Then a 3-cheese and broccoli omelette for the main course. I’d have a freshly brewed glass of cream soda to drink and a hunk of cheesecake for dessert.

My favourite movies are Armageddon, The Sixth Sense, Signs, Lake Placid, I Spy, Jurassic Park II, Austin Powers (all three), Scary Movie (the first, third, and fourth ones), Meet the Fockers, What Lies Beneath, Sleepy Hollow, Over the Hedge, The Birdcage, and Godzilla.

I have too many favourite books to count, but The Folk Keeper, After Hamelin, and The Blue Helmet would be in the top of my list.

My favourite TV shows are The Rick Mercer Report, History Bites, Crime Stories, Disasters of the Century (all Canadian shows), CSI: NY, Winnie the Pooh & Friends, Yes Dear, Futurama, The Simpsons, Two and a Half Men, Heroes, Cheers, 24, Crossing Jordan, The Weekenders, MadTV (seasons 8 and 9) and Friends.
